Attention Fairchild Freaks!

Resistors? I thought the consensus was that caps need done regardless but resistors only if they are faulty.
Often resistors have drifted, nothing wrong with leaving in place anything that hasn't drifted. Some people prefer to replace with tighter tolerance carbon film or metal film, some people prefer to keep carbon comp or even keep the original as long as they're in spec.

We shall see
Likely some additional TLC from my tech
I will try and hem with the Mc30 for a short bit n Friday and go from there
Picked them up from the guy
He gave me a good offer to get the second pair but I am good with this pair and even with taxes it was a decent deal. No it’s not a 248, it it still should be nice with the 755 and the 260 - need another 260 to be done. Maybe a Precedent tuner to check molted the system?

Glad they arrived safe and sound:thumbsup:.This calls for a drink:beerchug:
Im sure youll be pleased with 260 ,755 and 245 setup. As far as the mc30 goes i never had a chance to to compare my pair with my 248 as i sold them before i got my 248 but i did have a mxx110 with the mc30's.
So ill be very interested how the 245 compares to your mx110 and 245.
Dont sweat the other pair of 245's you did good with this pair.
As far as the tuner goes i sure wish Fairchild would of designed a tuner to go along with the amps, preamps and turtables or had farmed it out .(Who knows what they could of come up with)
REL precident tuner huh ?Might as well go all out .Thats one of my dream tuners as well .You think this Fairchild gear is hard to find that tuner is even more rare as im sure you know.Myself id be happy with it or even the 646b alll in one with a pushpull 7c5 amplifer and 13 tuned rf stages.Theyve both been on my bucket list forever.I keep telling myself oneday ill get one.

Interesting that the FC preamps weigh a bit more than expected. Not surprising though
At any rate - does anyone have the manual?
If it was posted earlier I find it don’t worry but can’t recall

Awesome thanks
Will check
But it is alive and playing very nice music with the Mc30 and a Tjoeb CD player into WLM la Scala speakers
Only 5 minutes but I can tell that they are keepers - sound as good as my restored Fisher 400-cx2
Of course one day I have to do proper h2h comparison
