Thanks, any thoughts on what generation they are?yes get them for $100.00. Be sure the horns work.
My understanding is that they improved with subsequent generations.Value is a hard thing to nail down. All I can say is I would not spend a $100 on them, as I suspect you can get a higher level of performance in the mids and top end from a modern speaker versus those horns. Some might not agree with my, it is just my opinion.

Given the shrinking value of the dollar, later versions like the OP's might be a pretty fair deal for a C note if the sound is really that much improved from the early versions.
I largely agree with the pig where early, triangular port examples are concerned. They were not good.
My early pair of Gauguin III which were utter crap sonically, had very nice cabinets. Not top level cabinet work, but certainly a decent platform on which to build a decent speaker, which is what i did with them.
