B-2x and C-2x

I was able to get a Yamaha amp B-2x and the C-2x.
The preamp is very good, better than my B&K MC-101 Sonata and HK AP 2500, so far I loved. I am testing the amp right now, really good, I have a few questions

according to this site https://audio-heritage.jp/YAMAHA/amp/index2.html

The preamp, and the amp was one of the most expensive Yamaha audio products

The amp is really heavy, I am afraid to ship it for a completed restoration, it came out around 1987. Do I have to replace the caps since is that old or can I wait a few more years ?

I payed around $450 plus I trade integrated amp value about $550, so total $1000 did I get a good deal ?

I check the spec for the preamp, amp and they are really good, is there anything better out there in he audio gear that can surpass those specs ?

is matching tuner the https://audio-heritage.jp/YAMAHA/tuner/t-2x.html Yamaha t-2x know as the Yamaha t-80 outside japan ?

Yeah you got a great deal I would say.

I would first check what the DC is on the speaker outputs. And download the service manual from hifiengine and learn how to do the electrical adjustments with a DMM.

But I would have to checked out inside for any suspect bulging capacitors etc.

Nice find and great deal for both under 1k !!!

Yes it was, my is multi voltage

the Yamaha t-85 and TX-1000 tuners were not sold in Japan which is weird, but they have the tx-2000

I am surprise that Yamaha went with opamp and not a discreet design, I was under the impression that discreet is better than op amp when it comes to preamps

An internet myth I'm afraid. There's nothing wrong with an op-amp circuit when its implemented properly and they can have some advantages over discrete circuits.

The upgrade of a njm2041 is the njm2068 but note that the older package was a 9-pin SIP ( pin 1 &9 common) and the new ones are 8-pin

Yes.. Has 4 amplifier circuits. 2 -- class A and 2 -- class AB..

Class A amps are heaters...

I can vouch for that, mine runs at about 115-119F on an open shelf (quiescent) in an < 72F basement. I bought mine non-working. I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors and and many perished transistors. It's a very good heater and an excellent sounding amplifier. Notice my avatar?
