BA-2000 Volume Control Lublication Help

I bought a BA-2000. I hear scratches via speaker when the knob is turned.
Sometimes the sound disappear completely. So, I bought DeoxT Red (D5) thinking that the lublication of the left site potentiometer(volume control) will solve the problem, and I removed chasis (cover) but it is not easily accessable. I am seeking for suggestions on the easiest way to lublicate the potentiometer. I.e., if I remove the knob, can I lublicate the potentiometer from the front? Or do I need to replace the potentiometer.

Thanks in advance

IIRC, the BA-2000 uses a large sealed unit, the same as the BA-3000 and BA-5000. I see a lot of the BA-3000's and 5000's with holes drilled in them (or melted in them with a soldering iron) to get cleaner into them. It's a crappy solution, and unless your controls are in very bad shape, I'd suggest setting them and leaving them alone, since you're controlling the volume with the preamp anyway.

Thanks EchoWars for your suggestion. It is bearable so far, so I will set the volume to the max and use the preamp to control volume. I do not have CA-2000 or CA-3000, so I am using AU-5550 as the preamp. Alas, the preamp a problem that left side souds less louder than the right. So, I am looking for some preamp - reasonable cost.
Do you know which brand preamp gives a good match with BA-2000? Mostly I listen Classical and easy listening CDs - no phono.

Thanks.
The cost is a major factor at this point.
Will preamp make much difference with BA-2000 in sound quality - musicality?
NAD, Yamaha C-60, Tube?

More of a cosmetic thing than anything else. Find something you like to look at, and is in good operational shape.
