I bought a little Realistic five band stereo equalizer at a used electronics shop the other day for 4 bucks. I have a Technics turntable running through it to my pioneer SX-737 receiver. Anyway, when I have the receiver at a reasonable volume and turn on the equalizer my speakers pop and the diaphragms pulse really large. This also happens when I press the bypass button. If I turn the volume on the receiver down this doesn't happen, obviously, but then (when the equalizer is on) there is a slight hum through my speakers when I turn the receiver's volume back up. Is the equalizer bad? I have the table going into the main input on the equalizer and have a cable going from main out of the equalizer to the phono input on the receiver.
Any information would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Grant
