Balance control delete C2

Anyone know how I go about deleting the balance pot on a Kenwood C2 preamp? It needs replacing and from what I've read, the pots are not available. Read somewhere else where people who delete their balance pots also utilize a dpdt toggle switch for testing purposes with hard right, hard left priority. Thanks in advance..JT

Are you sure it's the balance control? The c2 I bought had that advertised as the issue but it was actually the tape and source switches (deoxit fixed that). Also there's a thread somewhere on fixing the balance pot, there's a good chance it's salvageable

Dane, All I had was some cramolin when I opened it up. I'll have to get some deoxit and give that a try. Thanks...

I have found deoxit eats up the carbon traces. I have been lucky removing the pot and soaking it overnight in some 91% alcohol. If not I have a pic on here somewhere of the by-pass I do.

I wonder how many thousands had these bad pots? I had one, just jumped the contacts, they are very nice sounding preamps.
