Baldwin 6BQ5's....
I traded for a set of 6 of them out of an organ, and they turned out to be Japanese made. All of them tested close to new, and I took the 4 closest matched and stuck them in a Maggie 9302 amp.
They're powering my K-horns currently, and sound damm good....:thmbsp:

Sorry to go just slightly OT but I guess it is appropriate. When I worked for the Phone Company for many years, one thing that I saw really makes sense. It was a bumper sticker that one of the guys had put on his truck. It said: "Work Smarter Not Harder".
That is what it is all about. Ever go to a Hamfest and buy a beat up PA amp only to find a Mullard 5AR4 and Mullard EL34 tubes in it? Most are guys are wise to it now but not all

you see those two large 5watt resistors? those are the cathode bias resistors. you will need a multimeter and with one lead to chassis ground and the other at the resistor lead, you can measure the voltage across them. you divide the value with resistor value (165 ohms stock), and you get the rough idea what the plate current is. oh, and since the amp is push-pull, you're measuring each channel with each resistor - that means you'll need to divide the mA by 2 to get each tube's plate current.

Same here. I've got a bunch of 12AX7s as well... Baldwin label, all Sylvania-manufacture.
Especially with green labels... it's pretty much guaranteed to be Sylvania...

Narodow was good enough to measure my Baldwins. They are very strong and closely matched. He paired them and they are singing pretty in My Eico HF-81 
Decided to try them with my resurected EPI 202's with switch at 16 OHMs. Very nice combo matbe the best I've tried with the Eico.
I hooked up the speaker wire to the 16 OHM setting. May start separate post but what does that do on the amp - other than obvious match impedence. I recall someone on a 18 OHM speader thread talking about a 16 OHM speaker getting "more into the iron" or something like that?
