Time has told me...
Picked up a Bang and Olufsen Beogram RX 2 turntable this morning for $10 at a garage sale. Also a pair of B&W DM 110 speakers for $10. Both appear to be working fine and sound pretty good. I know I've read hot and cold reviews of Bang and Olufsen here, but what about the speakers, any thoughts?

B&W certainly has a good reputation.
THe DM-110 is an 8", 1", two-way speaker system. MSRP $370 a pair.
 
Nice score, that RX 2 is one sleek looking table. Shine it a bit and it will look like straight out of a fashion magazine.

Bully if you have it, throw up the B&O data also.

Sorry to say i have not figured out how to post pics yet. At 1 month shy of 50 I'm not very good with computers yet. The Bang & Olufsen looks just like those pictures. It does need a little cleanup, some old tape adhesive on the flat surface, and a little dust. But it sounds great. The B&W Dm 110's are a very pleasant surprise. Great sound.
 
I just got a set of B&W DM-110s myself at the thrift store a couple of weeks back. Not bad sounding IMHO. I've tried a lot of speakers in the general size range from a physical standpoint. Depending on your tastes you may or may not like them. I find them to be a bit on the bassy side of things, the Bang & Olufsen Beovox S45s which I use in the same setup with a different receiver have a smoother sound, the AR 226PS, also in the same setup have a tighter, cleaner sound. They're not bad though, otherwise I wouldn't be using them, with the way I've been finding speakers lately I've got plenty of other stuff I could be using. I use the MCS 3125 to drive them, which has no problem with them.

I've got a Beogram TT hooked up to my Sansui 990DB over in the computer room. It looks pretty cool and sounds alright. One of these days I'm going to play around with that system a bit more, maybe swap out the Harman Kardon speakers for the KEFs I've got in the basement or something and see what happens.
 
You did very well with the B&W speakers. I use B&W as my main reference system by which I compare all else. Enjoy!
 
the b&w dm110 are excellent 2 way speakers ..
they benefit from being about a foot away from the rear wall...spaced about 1.5 - metres apart...firing across the width of a room instead of the length keep them out of the corners of a room by the same distance or it destroys the spatial illusion they are capable of...
some good spiked stands to get the tweeter up to your seated ear level and angle them in towards your seating position so that an imaginary line drawn from the front of each speaker would cross just in front of you...
i bought my pair just over 20 years ago and have found them very difficult to upgrade...
these speaker dont shout at you..they tend to draw you into the music instead...
experiment with the positioning to find the sweet spot...
as a rule its best to make sure the distance between them is never greater than the distance from each speaker to your listening position...
sound strange but try it...
some of the nicest imaging i've heard in any budget two way speaker..with maybe the exception of the wharfdale 505-2
the soft dome tweeter is particularly good at resolving brush details and cymbals on a good recording without sounding harsh or spitty...
and for female vocals...all i can say is..i've never met aretha franklin...but the b&w's got me as close as i'll ever get on my budget... :scratch2:

Thank you sir. I will try that. Right now they are set up in my basement computer room on either corner about seven feet from where I sit. I spend a lot of time down here listening and downloading vinyl to my computer. I'm using them with my Pioneer sx3700 and either a dual 505 or the B&o rx2 I got at the same garage sale. I'm switching back and forth to see what I like better.
 
speakers placed in corners tend to accentuate the bass...causing that boomy effect...also...i'd swap out the b&o turntable and try the dual 505 instead...as nice as the b&o looks i suspect the dual might give better results...
i'd also set your tone controls to zero to begin with or switch them out of circuit altogher if possible to start with as clean a stereo signal as you can...then make subtle adjustments if necessary
