I did find one guy who put the V6s in his C2 and his impressions were quite positive.
I wouldn't think your Magnepans would be holding back your system unless they're quiiiiiite old.

Anyone else use the Burson op amps in the Basic C1 or C2 or any other op amp of a higher caliber ???

So far the best op amp I've put in it only cost $4.79 each (OPA2134PA - https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/595-OPA2134PA) - a far cry from $70.

OK I picked up another basic C2 on the cheap so that completes another set Basic C2 and an M2a $140 for both

recap of course this will be my second and then well I'm thinking a second setup I will try those op-amps you suggested I want to recap the M2a first but I see finding some of those electrolytic caps is going to be a challenge also the speaker post are all cracked so that needs to be replaced C2 has never been opened the person that sold it to me said that his father is the original owner and that he hardly ever used it

The M2A is a pretty easy recap. The biggest challenge I found was finding capacitors that were both an upgrade and short enough to fit on the upper power board. I ended up going with these: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/5985-85-63V8200
But this isn't an M2A resto thread, heh....
I'm also on the lookout for another C2 to get a little more exotic with. Can't wait!

you are replacing the 5200uf 56v with a 8200uf 63v the capacitance and voltage are higher value whats the benefit in this ? what about the 10,000uf 71v and 100v

is there a thread for the M2a restore ?
I couldn't find one. What I would do is start one, post your goals, add @Leestereo fine thread on the M1 and start.
post a few pics, schematic bits. there maybe some parts in common with the M1. I know I used the C1 thread for updates to my C2. And used the M1 restore for my M1.
you and @ajfink may be the only contributors but now we have a thread for everyone.
you might even make it into @dlucy restore sticky!
@Riki I noticed at the start of this thread you said "I tried my little Hafler and the (heavily modified) DH-101 sounded much better". Did you start a thread on the 101 ? If so please point me there. I have one I have been modding on a bit and I would really like to see what you have done to yours.
Here is a solution for the incorrectly clocked balance knob when substituting Mouser PTD902-1220F-A204. The flat on the shaft is not half the diameter of the shaft. The round diameter is 6mm. Across the flat, the diameter is 4.5. So it is possible to just put the shaft in a vise horizontally with the side you want to be flat up, and the file it flat to 4.5mm. There is still enough left of the shaft to put the knob on the direction you want. Careful placement of the shaft in the vise allows the top of the vise to be used to get a nice even flat pretty easily.
I pulled the McIntosh for annual maintenance and in went the C2. Then I put in the M2.
What a lovely combo. Easy to listen to with the Maggie's. I recently picked up some early 60s jazz and I'm really enjoying the sound.
Not really sure what power amp I was using when I first posted this. But think this combination is magic.
