Basic CD player

I'm looking for a basic CD player, like a 3 or more disc changer. I never play CDs just listen to my squeezebox using flac files or play records. However, my wife is still into CDs and finds the SB and spinning records too complicated.

Can anyone suggest a basic CD player that they have had good results with. Appreciate the help.

I mean, they don't really make CD changers anymore, so essentially any used Sony changer you can find that's still in good shape ought to do the job. I wouldn't spend more than $40-50 on something like this.

Check your local Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. You're sure to find something there.

You can even look into the used DVD/BluRay player market as a option. Prices are cheap and they are readily available in garage sales and thrift stores. Some can play SACD discs as well. Sony players are a good choice. Only problem is most do not have multi-disc capability, if you absolutely must have that option..

What they don't make changers anymore? Where have I been? Guess I'll have a look for an old Sony, although, she might be good with a single deck. Thanks for those models Grenadeslio.
 
Better off with a single disk player. In order to make it a multi and cheap, they cut corners elsewhere.

If you want a great changed these 400 disc carousels can also be had for pennies on the dollar, and they store all your CD's too lol.

These were very expensive new, I paid $75 with the new belts lol, part of their ES line it sounds fantastic. Some have mentioned they scratch discs, not surprised if they never changed the belts, the carousel could easily misload if the belts were slipping.

I ordered new belts for mine, $12 and easy enough to install. These things are huge and once the top is off there's lots of room in there to work and the belts are right there. I've had mine for about 5yrs now and absolutely no issues.

About it's size, again, it's huge, so if not enough room then don't bother.

Have you tried the Material Skin with LMS? You can configure the home screen to show as many or as few options as you like; it could just show 'MyMusic', and then only show 'Album Artists', or 'Albums' in MyMusic. Thereafter, selecting a CD is probably easier than finding a physical disc, what with the alphabetic selector...

I dropped a Chrome instance onto the Home page of my Android phone, for the LMS Material Skin interface; behaves like a dedicated app thereafter.

But if your wife is that resistant, then secondhand is probably the best bet; decent players go for next to nothing (£5-£20 in the UK).
