Is it amplifier? Is it radio? Is it turntable, Is it just analog?
Not sure where to stick this. So here goes,...

We went to the hardware store today. The hardware store is right next to the thrift store.
Sarge has friends working in the thrift store, and she wanted to stop in and say howdy (a daily thing).
In we go, and immediately, I hear this squeal of delight,.. shes found an MCM chest of drawers of some sort.
Her friend suggests that they had picked up a load of stuff last night, and there were more pieces where that came from, but they were in the truck,.. and they could sure use some help in getting that stuff out of the truck,... you big sweet Mike, you,...
So, they load me onto the lift, and up we go, and I open the door to the truck, and, there is stuff, for sure.
There were a couple of things that she saw, and I dug for, but, they didn't pan out.
But, what I saw had me digging deeper.

Bendix 847-B large radio/phonograph console.

So, before I do something stupid,... Tell me about this.
The TT seems like it might be a bit FUBAR'd, as the tonearm seems to just flop. I'm entirely inclined to remove it and replace it with something far better.
I'm tempted to remove it, and replace it with a Bogen-Presto Lenco B60 that I have in its stock plinth. Its stock plinth is a near drop-in fit, without doing much in the way of mods.

The amplifier doesn't smell like its had its smoke let out.
Everything seems intact.

I'd say around 1940 something. It is just a regular mono floor standing radio. Nothing special. Not good for anything hi-fi but radio collectors would be all over that just to refurb it back to the original working condition.

If you want to know if this is a good candidate for a guitar amp or project of some sort........no, it is not!

It is just a receiver. Yes, it is analog.....what else would it be? :D

No guitar amp,.. just as a base for a console build.
This is my last reno-mod build, of an early 30's radio/phonograph cabinet.
It has the capablility of being a self-contained console (on-bard speaker), but I use it to drive an outboard corner speaker (under Ink Spots LP jacket).

It was brought back from an early 30's cabinet with a windup TT that tracked at like a half pound with steel needles, to that of early 50's professional radio broadcast TT gear, and tube amplification with many different frequency response curve options.

I like piddling around with stuff like this, but, don't want to dive into anything of collectors value.

Postwar AM/ FM radio 78rpm phono. OK, nice cdx but nothing special otherwise unless family heirloom or other sentimental connection, rescue restoration.

Dad worked for Bendix (defense analysis, not radio production) and I've collected some Bendix radios but haven't seen this one. Got a cool end table one where the dial face looks like wood grain when the set is off, but when on it is backlit and a dial scale magically appears. Pretty nifty.

In my locale is an antique radio museum. I don't know how many such facilities exist continent wide but an e-mail to them may provide contact info for something closer to where you are.

SPARC (Society for the Preservation of Antique Radios in Canada) - location: Coquitlam, BC.

What you have may be more recent than their stock in trade but may still be able to advise re desirability of particular makes and models.
