Bent needle

Hello... Records play absolutely fine on this cart that got few months ago but is it just me or is the needle very slightly bent?

Looks skewed. Can either realign the cart, or try to unbend and then realign.

It's also possible it will respond well to just being pushed over. I've had at least 1 at cart where the suspension seemed to pop out a bit on one side.

Pretty much same as above :)

Assuming the cantilever/suspension are healthy, it looks like your anti-skate is dialed all the way to 11 :)

First harmless way to troubleshoot is find a nice clean record you don't really care much for or isn't of value and turn anti-skate to zero.
Does the cantilever look (slightly better) centered when playing or is it still skewed?

edit: if that's an AT-VM95E, specs say tracking force should be 2g. Try and make sure you aren't tracking at 3g or more (which wouldn't skew the cantilever but with an aggressive anti-skate it would).

edit #2: Wait, ignore! I may have that backward! :) I'm starting to think it makes more sense that TOO LITTLE anti-skate would push the cantilever to the right. Can someone with a clearer head than mine please confirm?

its an at95e
had fitted in shop 3 months ago
have tracking force at 2 anti skate at 2 also, though changed yday to 1.75 for both as seems a bit weighty
i have a low mass turn arm but the guy in the stop said would be fine and read online this cart has worked fine on low mass
took it off now, tried to straighten, its still skewed, does this mean will need new needle??? will it just slot straight on and work fine? havent had to realign a cart before or indeed have not fitted cart before

Alignment will do nothing to change it. I'm guessing that it looks fine when in use?

Nothing to worry about.

I found that the 95e performs best at 2 grams.

How in the heck will it have any effect when tonearm is sitting in its rest?

it looks fine sounds fine but just looks a bit bent
i could get
ATN95EX stylus to replace it, simply slips on and off doesnt it?
so i should have tracking force at 2 on my marantz and anti skate at the same 2
thanks

If the tonearm is trying to dive into the center of the record when playing for 3 months, then I'm pretty sure the results of that force will start to show on an idle cart.

I usually run antiskate about a quarter less than tracking force.

If you are going to replace it, Spend just a bit more and get a VM95e. BTW, the VM stylus assemblies will fit your cart.

Why would it be diving?

The answer to that is in a previous post which essentially is trying to say:

"Assuming the suspension/cantilever combo isn't defective and came healthy from the factory then a combination of wrong antiskate/tracking-force values is likely to blame."

You have an AT-VM95E (not AT95E), so why not just replace the stylus with the same one (AT-VMN95E) or take the opportunity to upgrade to the nude elliptical version (AT-VMN95EN)?

That cartridge is fairly low-compliance and is not ideally suited to light arms, so alternatively you could replace the cartridge with one that has a high-compliance stylus, such as the Ortofon Super-OM10.

You should have said that, then.

Most likely it came that way.

OP was clear that tracking and antiskate are fine. What's your next theory?

thanks for the feedback folks, I'm gonna let it run as normal for now slightly skewed as running absolutely fine and sounding great, gonna buy a back up stylus tho, a lot seem compatible dont wanna spend anymore than 30,
Audio Technica ATN95EX Daimond Elliptical Stylus (Replacment Stylus for Phono Cartridge AT95EX) (Red) sounds like could be a winner

Yes, too little anti-skate would caused the tonearm to pull more towards the center of the record (toward the spindle). This movement would tend to tweak the cantilever, in the record's groove, to the outside of the record diameter. More to the right, if you are looking straight onto the cartridge from the front.
