So i have a friend that stockpiles audio gear for a long time. He called me o er today to show me something he dug up in his stash, so ething he had never seen before and that i also turns out never had seen or heard of.
Its a B&O beomaster 3000-2. So i looked at it and though "well this is a cool design" and very heavy. I figured it was a specialty brand possibly high end stuff. But it was dirty and while it powered up and headphones work i dodnt get sound plugging in a speaker. Also the tuning lever is very loose when you slide it.
So i told him i would bring it home give itba cleaning and see if i could figure out if it works or not. But first i had a doctors appointment and heded over to a town called summit where my doc is. On the way over i stop at a traffic light and what do i see in front of me on a street corner. A store called Bang and Olufsen. I was like "whatttttttttt, no way". I had never heard of the brand and in a matter of 30 mins im given this receiver and then drive by a store of that brand. Bizzaro coincidence!
I decide to go in the store (yep all high end stuff) and show them this receiver. They didnt recognize it nor seemed interested in looking at it. I figured maybe they could give me some info. No luck.
I read online that there is one of these on display at the museum of madern art in NYC since it was specially designed by an artist back in the day. Ill have to verify that.
Here is a pick of it before i started to clean it. The yellow gook is coming off pretty good. Should look beautiful when done. Anyone know anything about this.
