Best affordable banana plugs? And speaker wire etc

IMHO unless your financial situation and system has changed from your previous posts in other threads, I would just get the first ones in your first post and a roll of “speaker” wire from a big box store.

:beerchug:
Big box store near me only Sells monster cable garbage , so first plugs are better then the ones with holes in them ?
What’s the difference in the two ?
When I last ordered banana plugs I got one pack should had gotten two . For 7.2
I’m using 14 awg cable no need to upgrade til I get more money or better speakers . Right?
Is Dayton good brand ?
I do need banana plugs cheap ones will do.

I guarantee they have a roll of generic RCA or such speaker wire. And the best is subjective. I just made 2 pair today with all the above for my Class D amp and Klipsch bookshelves. Needed easy to use “extension” cords for getting them in the window on the opposite side of the room they live in.

I’m using klipsch icon speakers I doubt upgrading wire from my 14 gauge will help. Those are low end klipsch !!

Sometimes, one has to spend a lot of money only to later learn that they didn't really need to spend a lot of money to get the same results.

I get it. But this kid always says he’s broke and jobless so what’s wrong with whatever your doing now :dunno:, hell pull a couple lamps out of the attic and pull the cords, there you go.

If one is frustrated then why keep responding and getting madder and madder?

If he wants cheap stuff why flog him for it? There is nothing to be ashamed about not being flush......some of the comments in this thread have just plain shitty to him.

If directed at me I am trying to help him out. We have “talked” in other threads about jobs and what not. People on here will have you spending money for no reason, not their fault he asked.

I didn’t ship jobs to China , or kill the economy for average people .
I’d like to know what is what quality and what is budget . So I can buy premium when I get the money .
I can get lower end banana plugs do they keep speaker wire better longer or provide better connection? How are the ones I listed

"Quality" and "Budget" are not distinct categories. "Expensive" and "Budget" are. And Monster wire is not "garbage", it's quality. Is it the best, No. But it's consistently badmouthed for other reasons. If the price is right, grab it. I found a new, sealed 12 Gauge 50-foot spool for $5 and pounced. I have some speaker wire that's Litz pure copper combined with Litz pure silver, obviously more 'premium', but I was delighted to get the Monster.

As for bananas, if they make good contact, they're good. Good contact depends on the metal used, the fit, the shape, and the contact-area, not the price. There may be other features to consider, but if simplicity is good enough, features don't matter.

I bought lots of these at a buck each...

Note the second through-hole: you can plug a second banana into the first, easily connecting another speaker or driver. I use them to experiment. When I'm satisfied, I may switch to "better" plugs — and hear no difference.

IMO, there's vastly more difference in quality between real bananas (fruit) than banana plugs.[/QUOTE]

do they keep speaker wire better longer or provide better connection

IMO banana plugs are simply a convenience. And for the less connections are better crowd they are just another connection point. What are you trying to achieve with banana plugs other than convenience?

With the number of speaker connections on the back of an AVR, bananas are pretty much a necessity.

Agree 100%. I've set up several surround systems for friends and it absolutely sucks if all they have is bare wire. I won't do it again unless they buy some kind of plugs.

I tried the Mediabridge ones off Amazon where you fan the strands out, like 26 bucks, they made the sound worse. Also tried Transparent Wave cables w/bananas, their cheapest ones at 220 bucks, and the bass was pudding with none of the power and impact of my original Monster Cable from 30 yrs ago. Went back to bare wire.
