Or an XA2ES. Many others... I still think that for strictly 2 channel performance in stock form it will be nearly impossible to top the Sony DVP-S9000ES. It will, however, have sonic characteristics much different than his list above.. as refinements have been made over the last 25 years since many of those players were built.

Number 5, 6 and 9 in my opinion.

It is not on the list or any other I could find. I was not able to find a service manual for the MB-10 but I found one for the MB-9 and it uses a Sanyo sf-91 laser pickup, available now only on E-Bay, not recommended. I have repaired 2 Music Bank players and I would not recommend them anyway. They are a Rube Goldberg mess of a crappy plastic mechanism inside. Open one up sometime and you will immediately see what I mean. Anyone wanting a multi disc player is better off buying a carousel player. They are the most reliable.

Yes, steer clear of any "music bank" Nak deck... if you want a carousel based player with similar sonics, can hardly beat the Sony CDP-C8ESD. It has TDA1541 DAC's, so I'm told, and having owned one I can assure you that it sounds nice and operates smoothly.
 
If the NAD 5100 is as lovely as my 515 carousel I would be inclined to go with that. I'm a bit biased though because that is the only quality one I have.
 
I ended up getting the Cal Audio icon mkII (non PB). It's in like new condition and sounds great. I was (still am) intrigued by the Sony CDP-650 ESDII and how it would sound in comparison.
 
Magnavox CDB-650 Laser by Philips was first class. They last forever. Has a great lifetime memory feature which you can program to remember tracks or portions of tracks for 450 cd's. Swing arm pickup and can be modded.
 
I use the sony 650 es. Its a solid and really good sounding player and the only thing i had to replace is the belt but thats expected.
