I need to reseal the rubber surrounds on a pair of Radio Shack Mach 1 speakers. I have some leftover "white glue" from a previous foam surround replacements but have read that for rubber surrounds "Seal Cement" sold by Madisound is better. This is a contact cement that is used for repairing wet suits, rubber boots etc. Does 'white glue" work on rubber surround or should I get the $15(plus shipping) Seal Cement?

I know this sounds funny, but most auto parts stores have a product called "seal all" i have used this on rubber surrounds and it works great. Comes in a tube for about 5 bucks

Use the Contect glue I have 16 Mach Ones and used contect on the 8 speakers with foam surrounds. The white glue is not as good to be nice about it. 4 years later no problems. The best surrounds I find are from Speaker Works Northwest best fit right size and look just like the old ones without the rott. I did the under the basket job not on top. I would also recap them I recapped all of mine made sound is much better.

I'd like to hear more about this collection. Did you check out the Mach One thread (primarily geared towards 4032 Mach's)?

Not all "white" glues are the same. The Cyan....? stuff is far stronger and superior to say Elmer's glue. So far I haven't had any failures. For actual "rubber" surrounds (which as mentioned the Mach's don't have) I use a rubber based/reinforced cement.
