Best integrated Sansui amp betweens 1970 early 80's

based on the OP ( from 2008 ) I'd have to say:

ALL of them!

I don't think there was a "bad" Sansui integrated made between 1970-1980?

ie I put a lowly AU-3900 into service that had been languishing in a closet: I assumed it was a budget model & not worth my time.

NOT SO. What a spectacular little integrated. Paired with Mordaunt Short Pageant Series II speakers.

Otherwise I have a soft spot for the AU-7700. The sound & the cosmetics with it's matching blackface tuner just grab me.

Based on Sansui's product info I think it was the prototype for the 1974-1979 series of classic black/silver designs: post AU-9500 & pre AU-717
 
Everyone has their favourites, given time we might chose all the amplifiers/receivers made by Sansui in the given time period. Not many have listened to a wide variety of Sansui amplifiers so they can know which really are the 'Stand-Out' models. And when all is said and done, the favourite they pick just might have happened to have been in a set-up with that elusive synergy we all strive for, and not actually be a particularly stand-out model. And because not all listening rooms are the same, that same synergy may be lost if that favourite gear set-up is moved to another room.

Therein lies the Vintage Audiophile dilemma. :)
