Best Pro Equalizer for under $300

Hi, I was wondering what is the best-sounding, best-built, most reliable, dual 31-band graphic equalizer, that can be bought used/new for under $300? I can't decide on what to buy, I prefer to spend around $200, but will go up to $300 if there's something really good out there.

I'm currently considering:

DBX 1231 (my most liked, but not sure about quality and longevity)
DBX 231 (like a 1231, but smaller)
Rane GE60 (usa-made)
DBX 2231 (would prefer over 1231 if there was a difference in sound and durabilty)

I'm open to other eq suggestions as well. I like the level monitors on the dbx's and others.

Thanks

Is the rane ge60 the best I can get for the money? Any other EQ suggestions?
For the people that prefer the rane, for what reasons would you prefer it over dbx?
Thanks

Anyone else have some suggestions?
I'm also considering getting 2 Ashly single 31-band eqs, running as a pair.
Is dbx reliable?
How is the Rane GE60 vs the dbx 2231? Is there a noticeable difference in sound?
I need more opinions. Thanks

Actually those Ashly graphics are really good, we still have some of those, but the dual 31 band version.

I don't like those DBX eq's never have, but thats not to say they are complete crap, although they probably are made in china....

UREI
White Instruments
Pulse Techniques
Pultec
Universal Audio
Cello Audio Palette

(the best of the best)

Ashly is also very good and recommendable for the price.

I have an ART 355.
Dual 31 band.
It has RCA inputs/outputs as well as balanced XLR and 1/4.
The RCA's made it easy to integrate into my current system.
Can be purchased for under $200.
Not sure if it's professional enough for your purposes.

I'm going to try to get a used ASHLY GQX 3102 off ebay for around $280 by negotiating the price. Will that be a really nice eq for the money?

Will it be too high end for a mackie 1402-vlz pro mixer?

Yeah, that's great, and I agree, but the OP has 300 Bucks to spend.....

You forgot the XTA GQ600....and another fav of mine the Klark Teknik DN27

Pultec for 300 bucks....hmmmm not likely....

Stick with the Ashly idea I think for the price....

White Instruments stuff (used) is the best you're going to do in the low-budget realm. Ashly is top-notch stuff within the price range as well. Would absolutely advise against anything Behringer unless you're talking the decent digital stuff like the DEQ-2496. Also not a big fan of DOD. BBE and newer DBX stuff isn't half bad either. Rane is totally solid (they make some of the lowest noise/lowest distortion gear I've ever used).

There's also a Japan-made Yamaha DEQ5 I found that can be bought really cheap, does anyone know anything about it, and if it's good?

Wow, serious? That is a monster of an eq. Right up there with some of the high-end BSS digital gear.

Are the 19 and 20 bit A/D and D/A converters on the DEQ5 still modern enough, or are they dated? The price on it seems really low...
