Best Rock Concert You Ever Saw!!!

Sonically and most memorable.1981.AC/DC in a small college gym doing the Back in Black tour. Was about twenty feet from the stage and experienced a sonic onslaught that has never been heard again to this day.

I saw lots of great shows in the '70s & '80s, but one does stand out. This was in an arena no less- Robin Trower at the Capitol Center, Landover, MD in '75 ( maybe '76?). They had this PA system that was billed as the most powerfull in existance , & it sounded like it. RT was completely amazing, the tried & true "power trio" magic worked to a T. I saw quite a few great acts in that place- but I don't think anybody ever sounded better.

Yeah , BOC sounded fantastic. Ann Wilson's voice was also incredible-25 years ago. Foghat sounded just like their albums. Not necessarily a bad thing! I'm torn between Heart's performance and BOC that night , and have been since the concert.

Pink Floyd Pulse Tour 1994 at the Vet in Philly , they made the Vet seem like a small venue . Incredible sound and production .

Most memorable: my kid sister won 2 tickets to see Herman's Hermits in the mid-60's and my mother forced me to take her to the concert (I was 16), much to my mortification. Suprise, the opening group was THE WHO, whose music and antics terrorized the teenybopper crowd. I remember the mother of the girl next to me trying to cover her daughter's eyes.
Best concert(s): any of 20+ Zappa shows, the Beatles, Richard Thompson

Well it had been at least 25 years since I had been to a concert. A couple of years ago I went to the Independence festival in Louisville and saw George Clinton and the P-Funk all stars and was absolutely blown away. Those guys rocked out.

Strangest walk-on: Texas Gov. Rick Perry came out during a ZZ Top show and played drums. NOT Rube Beard's drums... they both played together. He did 1 song with them - Sharp Dressed Man - and he was dressed in some kind of gym outfit, looked like... NOT very sharp... which also goes for his drumming. He did fills out of the blue that didn't fit in, random cymbal crashes, etc. Left everybody wondering "what the hell was that?"

I've seen alot of shows back in my younger days. My favorites were, Pink Floyd 1977 the Animals tour. Lynyard Skynyrd, 1976. AC/DC first time in KC 1977. Neil Young, many times in the mid to late 70s. ZZ Top, World Wide Texas Tour, 1977, in some college venue in Springfield MO, No fancy gimmicks, but an awesome show.

The last memorable performance was Sublime in 1994 at a house party in the LBC.
One other past memory was an incredible 1972 performance by the Rolling Stones at the Hollywood Palladium with a mere 2500 people in attendance. As my friend and I entered the Palladium, we were "grabbed" by a couple of model types who snuck us up into the VIP balcony section, spitting distance from the band. A very very lucky evening.

I didn’t start going to concerts until the mid-90s as a college kid. I remember my mom and dad trying to bride me to not go to one because at the time there was road construction on the interstate from where I was going to school to Nashville. Needless to say I went any way and had a blast. My list of best concerts I ever saw is pretty slim but I’ll give it a shot.

1. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with Lucinda Williams 1999, think it was still called Starwood Amphitheater, Nashville, TN
2. Pearl Jam with Sonic Youth early 2000s, The Pyramid, Memphis, TN
3. Weezer with The Pixies 2019, Nashville, TN
4. Lenny Kravitz with The Black Crowes, early 2000s I think, Nashville, TN
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers with Foo Fighters and Muse, early 2000s, SIU Arena, Carbondale, MO
6. Aerosmith with Seven Mary Three, early 2000s, SIU Arena, Carbondale, MO
7. Weezer with Jimmy Eat World and Tenacious D, early 2000s, Family Arena, Saint Louis, MO
8. Van Halen with Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Not a good show by playing standards but it wound up being their final tour with Eddie. 2015, St. Louis, MO

this is all about personal preference here so here goes
The best concert in my opinion was the tubes back in 78 or so. it was amazing, very theatrical. alot going on on stage. plus they absolutely rocked!
my favorite tho was montrose. i loved ronnie montrose. and especially denny carmasi. i saw them two nights in a row. they warmed up for kiss. but i went to see montrose.

Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Worcester Centrum, I think it was 83 or 84.

Neil Young acoustic somewhere in Boston

Any of the Galaxie 500 shows, saw so many. Really miss them a lot.

The concert I enjoyed the most would be Peter Gabriel Secret World Tour in Phx AZ in the mid 90's?
My first ever concert was The James Gang and FogHat in St. Louis, MO. Kiel Auditorium. Mid 70's? Don't know if it was the most memorable due to a certain illegal :smoke: substance.
