Here is a complete Carver system complete with the Carver Amazing loudspeakers for $2500. A little too rich for my blood. Negotiable, though.

If it's all in absolutely immaculate condition, then the price is fair. Otherwise, some dickering needs to be done. It pains me to see the Amazings shoved up against a wall like that.

It seems the Carver system had been up for sale for QUITE a while...I bought it almost 9 weeks ago...for $1,200. To me, it was worth it for the Amazing Platinum speakers (heeheeheehee...can you tell I love 'em?), but the Cathedral amp has one channel out, and the TFM-25 powers on, but is 'no joy' otherwise.

All else checks out wonderfully, and even the amps LOOK nice, but even upon cracking the cases I couldn't find any overt sign of damage to them. Will likely try to trade 'em out for something (like some metal reels for my RT-707 Pioneer reel rig for instance), as it'd cost me WAY too much to repair 'em...and I still have a Pioneer SPEC-1 and SPEC-4 to mod and refurbish yet.

Any ideas on what to ask for the amps?

How about some pictures of those Amazings?!?

The easiest thing to do to determine value of the amps is to check the closing price of recent auctions for same.

Amazing Pics

Sure! Will get some to you ASAP...probably within a day or two. Must warn you, though...they only sit about 12" from the wall (VERY small house...the seller had a 400 S.F. apartment, so I can see why they had theirs against the walls!)

The amp repair may not be so much, it could be something simple. I wouldn't think that you'll get much for non functioning Carver amps, but I could be wrong. Ebay seems a bit crazy pricewise at the moment.

No sales intended...

No sale intended...just making conversation. (Don't wanna mess with the shipping, anyway!). Thanks, though!

Hey, 80s Kid...got pics of my system uploaded (finally). Except for the Carver photo, they're not of the actual component, just one I pulled off the Net, but I still have 'em. The only SS component I'm now missing is an SG-9800 EQ, after which all I need to do is have my SPEC-1 and -4 repaired, then replace the three signal processors with their SS counterparts (they're Champagne Series, not Silver) for cosmetics' sake. Save for the tuner, EQ and CD, I got 'em brand-new while stationed in England as a kid (I'm 48, was 17 then). Also upgraded my DBX 122 with the 128 later on...
