Well, I'm at it again and this time I'm using an actual mic element from a rock band USB mic, It looks and sounds a lot like and has a very similar freq resp to a sm58 though many dynamic mics seem to use that element.so I'm guessing it might all the rejects (slightly out of spec)that would have gone into an sm58. The outer and especially the inner horn gives it a prominent midrange bump.
