I am not a big Rainbow fan, but wasn't there a song called "Blues" on the the "Rainbow Live" album? That rocked for me.

I think the song your refering to is Mistreated. Its debatable which is a better version. The Burn version conveys more emotion in my opinion. I have another recording of this song from a different concert where I thought they butchered it.
The thing with Ritchie Blackmore was that he was an Improve player. So on any given night you would get something different. Sometimes better sometimes worse. I read that the only song he committed to memery was Highway Star.
I have another concert recording previous to their Made in Japan album. Pretty much the same songs. It sounded like a practice. The whole band was in the zone when they recorded MIJ.

Looking at your list I see a lot of great music I have enjoyed over the years. I take it you do not care for Blackmore's Night? I started off this morning with Ghost Of A Rose and enjoyed it much especially the title song. Of course a very different Blackmore than I saw, jeez, 29 and 31 years ago. I'll take Burn
and Mistreated in '74 at the Cow Palace as Blackmore's best live
as far as a smokin performance. Can't pick one or the other.

I'm a big fan of Blackmore's Night. I just didn't want to include it with his rock era since I could have picked 20 songs from that group alone.
I was disappointed in Ghost of a Rose overall. I think Candace must have taken over the song writing on this one, which doesn't appeal to me. I want more emphasis on Ritchie's guitar playing. I think all of previous albums are excellant with Fires at Midnight being the best one.

I just have those two of Blackmore's Night. I know I will end up with them all though. I do know what you mean on Ghost Of A Rose, still the title song I like a whole lot.

Since I first compiled this list there are a few more songs that I've heard that must be on the list. 'Love's No Friend' is the best Ritchie jam I've come across. Unfortunately the recording is less than stellar (but is exceptable) and probably impossible to find, and I have it!
