Thanks to Dave over at Vinyl Nirvana for sharing the news on FB that Blue Note, in celebration of its 75th anniversary, is going to be remastering many of its classic recordings, and beginning March 25th, will be re-releasing five albums each month!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

BTW, since when did Don Was become president of Blue Note?

Aha, thanks I'm the antithesis of Captain Obvious, Captain Oblivious. Very down to earth pricing considering the content.

Too bad I already own the original releases for all of March and April's reissues.

Anyone picking any titles up today?? I'm really excited to hear how they sound/feel.

Plan to pick up Blue Train and Out To Lunch when funds allow as long as I hear good things
 
Not to burst everybody's bubble, but usually cheap records means digital source w/ digital covers/sleeves. I have to insist that we get to the bottom of the quality before deciding if this is infact a good deal. Maybe a situation where it's wiser to spend an extra $10 - 15 on the Liberty/UA pressed reissues which use the old analog masters and have lithographed covers.

These types of classic albums are worth the money and I can assure you that the pride of ownership is extremely high when you have a high quality copy. Its the type of thing your kids will fight over after you're gone.
 
Anyone know what the print run will be on these? Blue Train is already sold out on the amazon store linked above.

Yeah, I get that. The quality on these could go either way, hence my curiosity. They have the resources to do these well but it remains to be seen if they have. Still looking forward to a review
 
Back in stock, apparently. Either way, what are the chances these'll be available in six months? Are we looking at a limited run?
