i have a bogen mo-200 is pushing 75wpc and it has single gain pot. And i know this subject has been beaten to death. But i would like to use my dynaco pre-amp so do i turn the gain on the bogen all the up and control volume thru the dynaco? Or turn voume up on the dynaco and control the volume thru the bogen? All the caps have been replaced in the power supply and all the other ones too and a new three prong plug has been added and the circuit was change to run 6550's .:thmbsp:

Set the Bogen's gain so that the Dyna volume control gives a range you like (may be a "hair trigger" effect if you run it wide open). If you use the loudness compensation switch, you can go back and forth between the two volume adjustments to get the amount of boost that sounds right. In the end, whatever sounds and works best...

I would run the preamp wide open and control volume on the amp. Especially with long interconnects. This puts a larger signal on the interconnects and makes for a better S/N at the amp input.
