Bonamassa...anyone?

gyrene

No Marconi:Gomer MacGyver
Just saw this guy at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
I gotta say he is outta control.
Two hours of nonstop smoking blues guitar.
The word awesome should be reserved for this guy.
And the quality of the facility may be the best I have ever been in.
Anyone else into Joe B?

Yes indeed. Saw him in Hamton Beach, New Hampshire at the Casino Ballroom the summer before last. Great show. He's got a heavy blues sound and is certainly a Zeppelin fan on some level. There are lot's of videos on U-Tube of him playing and of him doing his thing when he was around 11 or 12 thus establishing him as somewhat of a blues prodigy.

Yes, he is good. Like him. Lot of feeling, got some subtlety in his playing and not too many notes. there are modern u-tubes too.

I am a fan. You should check his Live at Rockaplast dvd. Looks to be a small club in Germany. Sound and video are excellent. And the bass player with him is the best I've ever seen playing the blues.

Saw him open for Kenny Wayne. Was a great show.

Joe started in a group called Bloodline that consisted of sons of famous rock/jazz stars.

The group's members were drummer Erin Davis (son of Miles Davis), rhythm guitarist Waylon Krieger (son of Robby Krieger), and bassist and lead vocalist Berry Oakley, Jr. (son of Berry Oakley), along with Bonamassa, whose parents were musicians, though not famous.

There one and only self titled album is outstanding. One of my favorite albums with Joe B on it. I have seen him a few times as the headliner and he never disappoints. He really plays with a lot of emotion and passion.

Also, he recently finished a project with ex Trapeze and Deep Purple Bassist / vocalist Glenn Highes and Jason Bonham. The band is called Black Country Communion. it is more of a hard rock album than a blues rock record.

I only have only one Bonamassa album - You and Me. It's great. His cover of Led Zep's "Tea for One" is epic.

I have a couple of cd's and I watched him this summer at the Royal Albert Hall on Paladia TV. He is really awesome.

If you can find it on DVD go and get "A New Day Yesterday" from 2001. I bought the same titled CD back then and it had a bonus DVD of a concert in Ft. Wayne Ind. It is really fantastic. with soundboard quality audio and whoever shot the video is most likely a musician because they really focus on each band member when they ahve their significant parts in each song. Not this BS dizzy camera work of many others I've seen. Straight ahead concert like experience.

One of the best blues/rock shows I've seen on DVD...check it out.

Bonamassa Who?

Gotta love that bumper sticker!
I took my son, he's 17, to see Bonamassa at the Palace in Stratford CT this past November.
Incredible show by an incredible performer.
The guy is first rate and all class. At 33 years old, and already having played professionally for over 20 years, he's got a huge future and career ahead of him.
One day he's going to be one of the legends like Beck, Clapton and Page.
It's funny, my son had made a comment a few years ago about how most of the "new" music really stunk.
So he's been exposed to most of the stuff I grew up on:Led Zep, Floyd, Rush, etc.
He's the one who introduced me to JB.
I'm really glad he did.
