Bookshelf speaker suggestions

Hi all

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I have a Thorens TD160 Mk II going into a NAD 3020A and could use bookshelf speaker suggestions. I just picked up a vintage pair of Wharfedale Linton 2 which are struggling quite a bit with anything fairly busy texturally speaking. They sound great with anything minimal or solo instruments but are really muddying stuff with lots going on.

Room is not huge - 30 square metres ish. I'd like to stick with something 70s in keeping with the era of the deck and the amp.

Whatcha got? Thanks in advance

On your side of the pond, I'd look for some Canton or Braun speakers. Probably any model (within you price range) would be an upgrade from the Lintons.

Welcome to AK!

Recognise your findings with the Lintons.
I like Bowers & Wilkins of that vintage. :)
I like Bowers & Wilkins of any vintage!!

Except their Formation crap. It sounds OK ... when you can get it to work, and their customer support for it was horrible.

Waste of effin' money!!

I've been into bigger speakers for some time. The last pair of bookshelf speakers I really enjoyed were JBL S38II, very balanced sound with crisp highs and good mids. Seemed to handle complex material quite well.
