Bose 301 vs Marantz Imperial 7

I have a pair of Bose 301's on a Marantz 2275. Would purchasing a pair of Imperial 7 speakers improve sound reproduction? Total output for both are reasonable, is sound quality going to be improved enuff to consider buying the Marantz Imperial 7's.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Absolutely go with the Imperial 7's! I recently put my 7's up against a pair of 901's. Now the 901's are in their boxes waiting for their new owner's check to clear the bank.

I can just imagine how much the 7's would blow away the 301's. While the Bose may (and I stress 'may') have a slight edge for stereo imaging, there's no way they can produce as much sweet sound as the Marantz's can. In my listening area I have the 7's as well as a pair of JBL 4410's that I can run together and A/B. I'm finding that I listen to the Marantz more than I do my trusty-dusty JBLs.

No more debate - get a pair of Imperial 7's!

I have always liked from the whole marantz line the Imperial 7's. Very nice 12" 3 way, I think you will love them.

I would go with the Marantz in a second. You will be amazed by the Imperial 7's. I have a pair in the garage along with some Klipsch Kg4's, no contest the Marantz sound much better. In my computer room I have a pair of JBL 4311 stacked on top of another pair of Imperial 7's. While not quite up to the JBL's they are not far behind. When I bought my Marantz speakers new in the 70's they were 1/4 the price of the JBL's so the bang for the buck was there.

I find it interesting that we both have a pair of 7's and JBL studio monitors stacked in our computer rooms. Maybe we're onto something? :thmbsp:

Get them!

Have owned several pairs of Imperial 7's. Could not afford the JBL L100 back in '73. Great sounding speaker. Gave the last pair to my sister, who plays in a band. It took me 25 years to get two sets of JBL L100s. The Imperial 7s are a good match with the 2270. Sold a bunch of them in the mid 70s. You wont be disappointed.

I have both 901's and 301's. I'm looking for a nice set of sevens now. I plan to keep the 301's and ditch the 901's. To me the sevens sound much better. I like the 301,s for background music though.
