So I picked up a Sansui seven on eBay after making an offer that the seller accepted for $300. The unit was stated to be in excellent condition and was very clean. The pictures looked great and I was very excited. Upon receiving the unit, And plugging it in, it became quickly evident that the unit was not as described. The lighting on the tuner section was not the color it was in the pictures and faded from green to yellow/white. When I powered the unit off and tried to turn it back on again, the power button would not engage and stay on. Therefore, I couldn’t even test the unit! The eBay seller had a no return policy and I reached out to him and he quickly dismissed my claim saying the receiver was exactly as stated and shown. He didn’t reply to any other messages even though I sent pictures and was very professional in my tact with him. So, it is now up to eBay to protect me. I hope they will find in my favor.

Any advice is very much appreciated!

That's really annoying. I think everything I've bought on eBay have had eBay's guarantee... at least as far back as I can remember. I know things I have purchased recently have. File a claim, and eBay should help you. I'd leave nasty but accurate feedback on the seller as well.

As said above, Ebay almost always finds in the buyer's favor..
But I;'ve been in the same situation... a few shots of Caig fader lube in the switches will get them working again and lamps are often pretty easy to replace..
It's when it comes to buying caps and breaking out the solder gear and multimeter I get worked up.
You may be a buy and use buyer but I have always bought with the expectation of having to do a little bit of a tune up on things.
After all, as a man, am well aware of the "morning after" effect of make-up :p
I've had a transformer come detached in shipping from an amp I once sold and settled with the guy for half the repair cost at his local tech. Fortunately it did no damage to anything inside and just needed to be bolted back down. No way I could have known about that.
Good luck man... Ebay will settle but please don;t roast the guy too bad... Might just be a guy down on his luck and needing a few bucks.

Just file for a return claim for not as advertised, a no return policy from the seller is really only for buyer's regret. If it was $150, ok, but $300 is enough the unit should be working as advertised.

No need to have any more contact with the seller. Open a case "not as described" or "not as expected". State the condition as received. If functional defects were not disclosed in the description you will get a full refund and prepaid shipping label. As it should be.
Don't open the receiver case. If you do, the deal is complete and you bought it.

The wonders of a third party guarantor ..
Beats the heck outta Craigslist IMHO ..
Yep.ebay is a safe bet for me.Unlike say shopgoodwill.I once bought a Harman Kardon 330c off eBay that was described as working.I expected a tired receiver but one that worked. It didn't even though it said it was tested and working.Good sellers will just refund you as they don't want the negative feedback. They refunded and said just keep it.Too many people selling vintage audio that know very little if any about it.

The seller has now replied and is working with me. He asked if I wanted a partial refund or a return and I chose to return it. Hopefully this completes that way.
Question is, what happens if I package the thing up amazingly, which I will, and he states it was returned damaged and fights the refund? Or does eBay automatically refund my payment once the return shows it has been delivered to him?
I will obviously take pictures of my packaging job.

Actually, after you take pics and get ready to close up the box, put a copy of the pics inside, on top so when the box is opened there they are.
Could help stop anymore bs
Actually, take pics and email them to the seller AND YOURSELF right before shipping. Email has a timestamp that cannot be forged or screwed around with.
