C504 diffuser

Hi fellow McIntoshers.
I recently purchased a C504 preamp off eBay and upon removing the glass faceplate, was disappointed to find not only had someone replaced the clear incandescent bulbs with green led bulbs, but that the plexi diffuser was gone . . . completely.
From what I can gather here, replacements are no longer available from McIntosh.
So, my question is; is there anyone here willing to remove their 504 faceplate and send photos and dimensions so I can get one made?
Thanks in advance.

Chances are, the diffuser was held onto the back of the glass with very thin double sided tape. Pulling it off will pull the paint off the glass, effectively destroying it. That's why you only get one chance to put it on correctly. The glass on your preamp is probably a replacement. Who knows why they didn't put the diffuser back. Good luck.

Thanks for that. Glass seems original and intact.
I’m thinking I will need to contact Faceplate Panel Express and have a blank made to which I can apply the appropriate masks.
Not rocket science, but I wish I could find a spec for the perimeter dimensions of the piece.
Thanks again.

Don't forget, the holes for the lamps have a slight chamfer but I don't remember which way. I refurbished one of these about six years ago. I never took a picture of the diffuser. I remember it because I decided to try a $1 starting bid on ebay for the first time. Ended up at $325!! A week later another one sold for $750. I have never used an "auction" since. I put LEDs in this one. I remember now from the photo that the lamps are mounted and wired in the front just like the C34V.

I’m thinking I will need to contact Faceplate Panel Express and have a blank made to which I can apply the appropriate masks. I don't know if you know how a MCINTOSH light diffuser is, but trying to make one is very complicate and cost a lot of money (worse for one piece) . And I don't talk about the holes (for the lamps) which should be clear (to guide the light to the correct area) and chamfer . If you made one yourself this chamfer will be "frosted" and light will not go across to go to the right area !

On a diffuser you have " white translucent area " in many place and this on the both side . There even some who are white but not translucent

Making one only is too costly for one piece and doing it without an original model as reference is too complicate !

Not rocket science yes , maybe but I think that you can't do it easely in my point of view !

May I ask who is Faceplate Panel Express? Do they have a website?

edit: I found them.
