my hypnotoaded 640P works very well with my denon dl-103 MC cart (0.3mV output voltage). no gain issues at all. granted, that could be the result of philip's magic...

+1. Night and day after Phillip does his magic. The modded 640p is far superior to the others listed.

For MM, the Rega Fono mini is better than the CA 640P - better detail, dynamics, and more lively, although this latter is because the 640P is a little laid back when compared to most.

I agree the 640P is a laid back sounding and for that reason maybe not the best choice for caaalebbb's Grado Black. I like the Musical Fidelity V-LPS better with the Grado, the Rega Fono and Clearaudio Nano might be good choices too but have not heard them.

Grado's perform well with an input impedance of between 18k & 23.5k.

My Grado Gold1 sounds terrific through the Rega Fono Mini.
