Can’t balance my btd-12s tone arm on my Thorens td124.

The metal leaf looks straight and unbent if my memory serves me well. I’ll take it apart tonight and check out everything.
Sorry, just for clarification This set screw you’re talking about is a different screw then the vtf adjustment screw found at the top of the assembly that you can access through the top hole of the bearing housing?

Try to observe the leaf spring while turning the VTF lever. If it bends nicely and evenly without any nicks you should be OK. Another test would be using a good VTF scale. Try different settings and look for anomalies in the readouts.

In the worst case I may have one spare spring around.
