CD player Drawer opening and closing problem

Hello gang, I have an issue with more than one older CD player. When the open button is pressed the drawer opens and closes to fast so you can't put a CD in. Every once in awhile after a few tries it works fine? What do you think is the issue? Do I need to clean a switch or relay? Or is it something more technical? I have an older Kenwood, Luxman, and Sony player that all share this problem. Yes they are old, I've been curious about this for awhile. The Lux is a single DZ122, Sony is a 6 disc, The Kenwood is an old single disc.I did a brief search here and didn't see what I was looking for. Mine open and close to good! LOL. It's got to be a common problem. Thanks

Clean the optical sensors? Maybe there is too much resistance in the mechanics making it think you are pushing back at it?

I'm going to experiment on the old Kenwood first.... I really want the Luxman back in the mix. This has always got me wondering.

I remember seeing a youtube video about this and in that video it was the optical sensors causing the problem. Quick clean with a Q-tip and it worked just fine.

there are either optical sensors (rare) or limit switches much like the brake light switch on a car, they activate or deactivate with a small movement. regardless, pull the drawer and clean the area and perhaps even relube some stuff.

I would put my $ on a new belt for the Luxman. If the belt is slightly stretched it will cause the drawer to have a mind of its own. I have had numerous Luxman players become erratic and when I changed the belt all symptoms went away.

When in doubt, first look at the parts that see the most use--I'd put a new belt in before I did anything else, believe it or not.

I pulled the Luxman apart, cleaned the relays lubed the pivot arm that handles door duty. Lubed what I could everywhere else. Belt seems to be in good shape, no play tight. I'll let the Detoxit dry and fire it up tomorrow. Interesting I found a sticker inside on the cover for a electronics repair place out of state that specializes in DVD and CD players.
