My CV 15" speakers excursion zone is way more then a 1/16th" in either direction. Glad I don't have to mess with mine. 1/16th" and I would bottom out quick
Maybe I didn't explain it very well. I consider the wire on the tube to be the coil. Pull/set the bottom of the wire coil 1/16" above the magnet and you are golden. Way more than 1/16" travel in both directions.
