Cheesecake

StuartK brought it up in the pastrami thread, and I think this is gonna be one h#ll of a discussion. Most of us love cheesecake, and everyone thinks they know which one is the world's best.
Being a Brooklynite, I have to cast my vote for one that many New Yorkers contend is the best on this or any planet, Junior's.
This is a creamy cheesecake, not overdense, not oversweet, and with a thin slice of angelfood cake as a crust instead of the more traditional graham cracker crust. Any AKer coming to New York who gets in touch with me has an open invitation to come to Junior's with The Lovely Blanche and me for a slice so you can judge for yourself.

Don't let the size fool you, this is supposed to serve 16!

I had cheesecake at the Brooklyn Juniors a couple of years ago. (Also went the Peter Lugers, but not on the same night. That could be lethal). You are right, Juniors Cheesecake is very tasty. The best I have ever had was a chocolate cheesecake I made from scratch for my wife's birthday. It was pastry chef Emily Luchetti's recipe.

this is the way a Cheese-cake has to look :)
and it has to contain raisins!

Sorry to be this dogmatic, but it has to be :) and, it has to be DIY naturally (best by my mother, but it's not too difficult)

The Lou and Hy's cheesecake I posted the recipe for in the other thread was the best IMO.

The cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory is pretty good.

I think I'd have to go for Eli's Cheesecake being the best currently available cheesecake.

Juniors is good too.

Versailles and La Careta in the Miami airport both have some really good cheesecake.

Mmmmmm I make an artery clogging cheesecake, it has 5 packs of cream cheese in it graham cracker crust and use mexican vanilla. Now I feel like I need to make one.

Damn! I hate cheesecake. Even more if it has strawberry topping on top oozing down the side. Worse than that maybe blueberry topping running off the top getting on every forkfull that goes in your mouth. Then that semi sweet, rich flavor, dissolves and disapears, forcing your brain to ask for another bite. Damn! I hate cheesecake.
I had a girlfriend once, to hell with beer and party licker. Give her a slice of cheesecake and she was putty in your hands. That was 20 years ago and 10,000 slices later, she is starting to look like putty in your hands.

It can be delectable but if you actually know the calorie and fat content...best enjoyed occasionally. But most enjoyable, oh my yes.
