Chicago-Area AKers! Save Feb. 25th.

Oh man! Would love to make it but I have to work that day! :tears:

Sorry to hear that AnalogDigit. It seems we're practically neighbors. Please remember that although we'll start around 1PM, it will probably go 'til at least 8PM. If that allows you to stop by after work, please do.

Bob, looking forward to this coming up in two weeks. Powerman (Dave) and I will be driving in together, and 240sx4u (Evan) will be stopping by before the get together to pick up his 'table he brought by today for me to align.

...and BOC and early Scorpions and Michael Schenker and...uh oh..I'm about to be un-invited!

Hey prisoners, I've always believed that my house is just the place where my guests can hear what they want to hear.

I usually put someone in charge of each system and have them make sure everyone gets to hear what they want, be it equipment or music.

I also think there will be such nice equipment there, it may be best to focus on great recordings rather than style of music. That's my excuse for playing my entire well recorded collection of Bulgarian accordion music.:D

Bob, I will have my Oracle Delphi with me if Brian can get it sorted out. Also my lazarus preamp that I am supposed to pick up from service on the way.

Sounds great, Evan (or it will when it gets here).

Has anyone heard whether RayW can make it? I'll PM him just in case.

BTW, I had intended to bring headphones only for use with my Leben CS-300, but I am not adverse to hooking people's speakers up to it. I just don't have speakers that it makes sense to bring, and the Leben is marvelous with cans ;)

Skylab,

I don't have many uber efficient speakers but I bet my Genesis Physics Model 10s would be an easy load to drive. I can drive them fairly loud with my 7W/ch Super T-Amp. Unfortunately, I find them super revealing. I recapped them and refoamed them and never heard the original sound. I find them a bit hot on all but the very best recordings.

Re: Altec 604e

Jim:

You finally got the 604s going? Do you still have the CWs?

I put 5 way binding posts on them and removed the funky lattice grill.
I also discovered the drivers were mounted vertical, so I mounted them horizontal. I'd like to bring them, any amp can drive them.

Cornwall's are still here making beautiful music, since 82'...

I picked up a pair of Dynaco MKIII mono's, If Mike brings his, we can have a shoot out.

I rescued what looks to be JoeDotCom's (former) Olson AM147 6bm8 integrated.
It was slated to have its potted OPT's harvested for another project.
It has a copper chassis, GZ34, 12ax7 phono, wire wound resistors, and the pots look and feel deluxe. It need a re-cap (vintage oil filled caps). It should be a great sounding unit. I'll bring it for looking at.

Yeah, the only speakers I have that are small are my "new to me" LS3/5A, but they are not at all efficient and not really an ideal mate for the 12 wpc Leben. The Leben drives the HPM-100 terrifically, but I ain't lugging those 58 pound beasts anywhere.

Nah... not if we play them on tiny bookshelves....
Now if Mike brings his JBLs that would be a different story :)

Dynaco MK3s? What happened to the Eastern Electric Monoblocks???

I think the Leben would sound good on the Rega ELAs perhaps. Mine drives my Sony SS-m7s, but I have the CS-300x, which has a little bit more power. 18wpc I think.

Yeah, I forgot that the ELAs are fairly efficient. We'll try them too.

My trip got pushed back to the 29th and now its....Chile? Anyway, I hope to make it now! Sabah has some conference in the morning so we'll probably be there in the afternoon. Is there going to be an amp/preamp setup? I was thinking of maybe bringing my Klyne SK-6L preamp/phono stage.

I offered to bring my Magnovox 9304 (EL84 p-p) amp, to represent the cheap tube amp option.
