I think actual cinder blocks went out with steam locomotives.
 
Reminds me of the Wagonqueen Family Truckster, "If you think you hate it now, wait till you drive it". I'm sure they should be a decent speaker, but not for me.
 
I don't think I've ever seen a ported tweeter before, so I'm guessing the port isn't functional since the two chambers are not connected. Is concrete airtight? If not, you won't have to worry about cabinet resonance, sound will radiate through the block. This only took him a year to perfect? I guess you can still put a board on top of them and make a shelf. Great for the dorm room.

If you view the speaker on the designer's own site, a channel is cut into the back panel that couples both sections of the block together. So yes, that port is fully functional.

Good idea, actually--the block is an inert material. I'd probably stain it a different color, though.
