Coke vs. Pepsi

Just thinking out loud, but with all the talk about which is better, if any, and if I can tell the differences, after all, there have been so many claiming that they are both the same; there is no proof there is any difference after all.

So first with Pepsi, pretty good. Smooth, some extra tizzyness perhaps, good bottom end though, all around very enjoyable. Now nobody can remember what pop is like after 20 minutes, so I cut the test short and took only a few sips from the first section of the can to get onto the next sample, and did not finish the whole can.

Next Coca-Cola (further referred to as Coke). To be consistent, I took the same first section of the can. Wow! if was as if someone lifted a veil off my tastebuds. That tizzyness is gone, just sweet and natural, like it just gets out of the way and lets me enjoy the experience in a holistic fashion. Very palapable, I think I can just reach out and touch the can.

I don't feel the need to go back to the Pepsi, the results are so easily identifiable. So the Coke will stay, thank you very much.

Now of course there will be someone who will say there is no difference between the two, or that Pepsi is in fact better, and I should prove to them there is a difference. I am waiting for the engineers' reports. Your taste buds may vary.

The results of this review are the reviewers alone, and in no way reflect the opinions of Audiokarma, or its volunteers.

Next week: Broccoli vs. Cauliflower

I deleted my comment as I thought wrongly, that your post was in BAP, and it wasn't. :)

I go back and forth every couple of months between the Diet Caffeine-Free versions of each brand.

They definitely taste different - but for me it's a matter of availability.

I prefer the drinks made with 2x distilled water and passed through cryogenically treated plumbing, preferably of European origin :D

Oh, and organic sugar, no HFCS for me...

I've found that when using a the mid-eastern technique of "bi-strawing", that the whole experience of drinking soda becomes much more articulate in it's presentation.
The amount of digestive induced "back EMF" seems greatly reduced.

Though, when I share a can with someone, (bi-injesting), it is not only more palitable as a whole, but increasingly more rewardable.

John.

BTW. IF you can find a NOS glass bottle of either of those brands.......you can name your price.
:)

Ahhhhhhhh.
The good old days.

Coke by a good margin. Pepsi is still good, but Coke is the benchmark.

Diet Pepsi however is far, far better than Diet Coke, though either is uncivilized. The gain in chemicals is far worse than the sugar savings "benefit."

Don't dring much soda anymore, but when I do it has to be Coke.

Many years ago, Bill Cosby did a television ad for Coca-Cola, and to this day, I still recall the reason he'd given that perfectly described my preference to Coke over Pepsi: "Coke is less sweet, so it goes better with food."
So, for me, "Coke is it®"

From a can -> Pepsi
From a 2L bottle/fountain -> Coke

Coke holds up better in bottles than Pepsi (which tends to go flat pretty quickly). I prefer Pepsi from the can though because I find Coke to have a bit of a pungent, sewery taste.

Another thing I have noticed is both taste MUCH different in Canada than the US. I'm from Canada, and when I first bought a can of Coke in the US I was shocked at how bad it tasted. This is probably due to me being used to the Canadian taste, but I also found Sprite sorta tastes like pee in the US. I'm not sure if its a result of the water or different levels of something, but there was a distinct difference. Anyone else ever experience this?

I am partial to Schwepps personally and Dad's Root Beer but will accept Canada Dry ginger ale and then A&W root beer though it is NOTHING like what it was in the '60s. Then Coca-Cola. Whenever possible, bottles only as all drinks pick up a metallic flavor flavor from a can.

Recently tried some of the Arizona Green tea and in the bottle is pretty good bt out of the can is tastes like I'm drinking aluminum. Same with Nestea. Tea definately is not a drink for cans.

From my experiences, it is much the same as Bud vs Miller, as far as it seems half the people are divided in the issue. I like bud better and coke as well, so it would be an interesting study to see if Bud Drinkers prefer coke and Miller drinkers prefer Pepsi?????

Coke is the best and the world knows it, whoever earlier said "Who drinks Rum and Pepsi?" all I can say is F-n A............F-N-A!

If you really want a treat, get some cane sugar Dr. Pepper from Texas, this stuff really brings back memories of the good old days before that lousy high fructose corn syrup ruined pop!! Dublin Dr. Pepper, No PRUNE Juice!!
