Compact disc player CD-850

I just got CD player branded ESC (Electronics Sports Collection) with original receipt for &300 NZD paid in 1988.

I guess it was produced by another more famous company, but I couldn't find any info.
Does anyone have an idea?

The pic is rather dark, but it looks similar to the old Emerson CD-150A, which was made by Yamaha, noting it had red LEDs, not green.
But that's a minor change.

Looks like a low-end Compact Disk Player. I had a Multitech CD Player that had a similar look. How does it sound?

It sounds quite "realistic". speakers are not the best, but feels like it's a quality unit..
will post a better pic soon.
