Concert Grand Magnavox - Poor Cosmetic Condition - Needs Full Resto - Value?

So, I'm looking at a Magnavox Concert Grand... yes, The Mother Of All Maggies.

The biggest problem is that it's in fairly poor cosmetic condition. The front sliding door has been removed and lost, and desperately needs a surface refinishing.

Owner claims nothing of operating condition, so I expect to give it a full electronic/mechanical overhaul.

Assume you are me: 1) A serious hi-fi enthusiast with a modest but comfortable variety of vintage tube home audio setups, and 2) a semi-serious console preservationist, respectful of vintage audio but pragmatic enough to chop up a project that will never reach it's former glory.

What's your best "Can't Walk Away Price" for this thing?

If you could walk away spending $100, you would be in a nice position. You could restore it or do what most think unthinkable, part it out and make some coin.

If its in real bad shape, the value may be it's components. I hate to say it, since I'm also a bit of a preservationist, but if the box is too beat and parts are missing you may never really be able to make it what it should be again.

I might take it on for as much as 2 bills, but only because the amps should fetch that much even as-is if I turned the box into firewood. I'd prefer to be closer to the 100 mark though since there is usually a lot of work involved with moving it, taking it apart, etc.

The way you descibe it sounds like it was in a garage or worse yet, outside. If so, the amps are also going to need a lot of work and not just the electronics but astetics (rust etc.) Been there. It's a lot of work. I'd say 125 tops in that condition. Do you have pics ?

Garage sounds about right.

No wood damage, just finish damage.

Haven't seen the guts yet, but I'm optimistic.

No photos, unfortunately.

I was thinking about $100 was a fair price.

Thanks for the opinions, guys.
