Console ID / Information

How did I end up here?
Saw a console at the thrift store today. As per my custom, I looked to see if it was tube and how much they had on it.
It was tube and the price was .. well - that's another forum - let's just say it's still there.

I took some pictures - thinking I'd be able to research it more thoroughly once back in front of a computer.
So much for that idea. I found nothing. I thought I'd throw the picture up here in the Tube forum and see what you all can make of it. Maybe there is some information out there to be had after all.

This may be a long shot... Only US model "Sonata" in Sams index is by Andrea, a NYC company. Sams folder shows a TV/AM/FM/Phono console, but no mention of "Sonata" model. MIGHT be the same radio and amp chassis.

It was a lower end brand sold by jobbers and the like. Sonata made radios and radio/phonos in the 1930's and 1940's. Is this the same company or did the name just float around for a while? Not sure. Looks like a single ended tube unit, either 6BQ5/EL84 if your lucky, or 35C5 or the like, if your not.

Well Treo is a familiar name.Isn't that connected to Kenwood?
Never mind, the Kenwood connection is Trio

I remember seeing many of those as a kid in the early sixties in people's homes that couldn't afford much. Good middle of the road cabinet with an average sound when people started going ape for FM. There should be an ID tag fastened to the back...

I was trying to figure out where you got "treo" from - and then I figured it out. What you think says "treo" actually says "Stereo" - but the "S" and "T" are behind the Griffin.
The only tag on the back had a serial number on it - so I didn't record it.

This thing was so BOTL - it didn't even have a tuner.

I have a parallel thread on this in the D&S forum talking about value.
I added some more pictures there from my visit today to look at it.

(I hope that's OK)

Now I see the error of my ways!
The amp looks like single ended, if there is a large transformer at the other end of the amp, it may be usable, if no transformer, certainly stay away.

that was IT - only thing in the cabinet - so that means the controls (albeit limited) somehow are integrated into the top of that.
price tag was way too high for not very much. oh well - it was /almost/ something.
