Craigslist dead zone...

Why would you list a piece of equipment at a reasonable price on Craigslist and then not answer any email from prospective buyers? This seems to happen fairly often on CL and it's happening again right now. Do people just have everything funneled to a spam folder or something? I just don't get it, they keep updating the ad and it has decent pictures attached so they obviously know how to operate a computer at some level. Wonder if it's a CL email problem or something. Damn frustrating whatever the cause!:rant:

Yep, I've experienced that, too. Frankly, I ping them twice and then leave them alone.

I suppose there's a reason why there are 4-year degrees awarded in Marketing. Some CL listers seem to be clueless what its all about. Frankly, I'd not want to buy from them anyway.

Cheers,

David

A degree in Marketing is a B.B.A. in B.S.

I currently have some tubes on Craigslist that I have been renewing for a couple of months now. I always check my spam folder but no hits on my very good 7591 tubes for a Sansui 1000A. :dunno:

I've been complaining alot about this lately. It's frustrating to see the same piece keep coming up yet no one responds to your email.

Theres a pair of speakers on CL still that I contacted via e-mail said I will take them. Got a e-mail back saying great but no phone number to call. Shot another e-mail with my phone number and have heard nothing back. Go figure.

Yeah I just went through that one a little while ago too. The seller refused to give me an address or any other clue as to where we could meet, just simple one word answers that went nowhere. I told him I wasn’t going to bother anymore if he can’t tell me where to meet up and he finally gave me the address at the last minute. I almost wanted to call the whole thing off just because of the annoyance but I went through with it anyway. Turned out to be much further away than I thought too, not worth the effort.

There are a bunch of folks out there that are just really bad at communication, and technology can add to that struggle for some that aren't into it typically. Replies to their add may be going to their spam or junk folders as well.

It could do with email settings. Just recently sold a motorcycle and even though the buyer had initiated contact, my replies were being funneled into his spam. He hadn't responded to me so I figured he was just another flake; then another email came a few days later explaining he found my reply in his junk mail.

A lot of people don't bother to delist when something sells or if they change their mind about selling it. They simply ignore the emails.

I bought a set of speakers from a guy a month ago, but the ad is still up.

When i go on craigslist and see that there is no phone number to call or text,i pass. Sending emails and getting no email responses ASAP was very frustrating for me. I have that " I have cash in hand, let's make a deal " attitude.

Also possible some sellers may list an ad, just to gauge how much interest there is for the item. That might happen if seller is wondering what his sale item is worth. If he gets several people willing to buy it right away, price can probably be hiked up a bit, and relisted later or moved to another selling venue.

I'm guessing you don't fish much, either. There's an old saying about letting your dogs come to you. Works.
