Craigslist question

Roll me away tonight...
Just posted an ad for NHT speakers. Today I find it's been flagged and removed despite it being completely legit. Does CL review flaggings or can anyone torpedo an ad? I think it's the latter and someone did it prevent other parties from contacting me.

Just curious.

Just in case, I would re read the rules. I may be being flagged for something you did not expect. I would not rule out the possibility of a rogue seller either, though.

Here's the text from the ad. I don't think I broke any rules here ....

For Sale - Floorstanding NHT VT 1.2 speakers. If you are looking for outstanding performance in a smaller package - whether for home theater or a two channel application - you will be impressed by these NHTs. With 8" passive subs built into each speaker, they provide much deeper bass than you would expect. And, as with all NHTs, they are exceedingly accurate and clear. Cosmetic condition is perfect and the speakers will come with their original boxes, packaging, and owner's manual. I would be happy to audition them for interested parties. Cash and carry only. Please email via craigslist if interested.

In my first post I also used keywords. Maybe that's why it was pulled.

Nope.. nothing wrong with that ad.. in the Electronics for sale? BUT.. some people don't like keywords at the bottom.. .just let the title and model and brand be your seach words... I will flag ads that have 50 different brands listed on the bottom..

Could be someone else is trying to sell a pair too, and they and some friends flagged it.. .or, could be someone that doesn't want anyone else to see the ad.. .

Just keep reposting it..

If I had to guess, I'd blame it on two words, which in your case are totally innocent, but they might be flagging it for prostitution. :"AUDITION" and "PARTIES". It's strange the way the ad scanning works on websites, but those two words are on the "HOT list" when combined, I believe. I read a tutorial on eBay about avoiding ad killing. I kept losing eBay ads for a CRT tested that I was trying to list. It turns out that because I told that it tested all 3 guns on separate meters, and I didn't also put a disclaimer at the bottom of the ad "NOTHING IN THIS AD IS, NOR PERTAINS TO THE OPERATION OF, A FIREARM", the pulled the ad each time until I wrote Customer Service. It was the word "GUNS".

The people who review the flagged ads (flagged both by other users and by software that scans and pops up flags), are probably careless and they just sit there clicking the mouse, without bothering to read the whole text. Same thing happened when I listed a Honda motorcycle gas tank, and mentioned that it the cock was leaking, and needed a new seal kit. Heck; I still have no idea why they'd have a problem with advertising a rooster :D

Did you list a price in your ad? If not, people might have assumed you were running a CL auction.

See a lot of those slipping through here. They'll put $1 in the title but the text will allude to best offer without actually saying so.

Yes, price is on the ad.

Interesting about "parties" and "audition." If it gets flagged again, I'll try changing those words.

Maybe you should just change it to something simpler, yet less "refined".

Perhaps like; If you want, I will set them up so you can hear them play.

I see two other things wrong with your ad.

1.
Your ad looked too much like a counterfeit; When I read your ad it sounded way too perfect. Don't try to jazz up your ad by making it sound like a Bestbuy advertisement.

Example: If you are looking for outstanding performance in a smaller package - whether for home theater or a two channel application - you will be impressed by these NHTs. With 8" passive subs built into each speaker, they provide much deeper bass than you would expect. And, as with all NHTs, they are exceedingly accurate and clear.

Sometimes that will get you flagged...

2.
At the end of your ad, you said "Please email via craigslist if interested", everyone on CL will already know this, so take out that last part.

Again, may get you flagged.

Both of those are merely pontification. No reason for flagging.

I'm betting it's the keywords. They really frost some people.

I don't flag for key excessive keywords, but it does frost me too. My #1 complaint is that CL doesn't separate car and home audio. It makes looking for speakers and amplifiers a PIA.

My number one complaint is I have to sift through 300 cell phone ads to get to one non cell phone ad.

I don't flag very often unless I see a pattern. Yesterday someone had posted double ads all over the listings for various stuff and varied the wording slightly in the header and then had the same picture.
