Criterion VI tweeter replacement - it ripped!
So I have a pair of Criterion VI's and one of the paper tweeters is torn. On the back of this tweeter is written:
CR - V1
Tweeter
Imp 8 Ohms
I've never had to replace a driver before. Will I be able to find an identical replacement? How would I find out? If not, how would I go about figuring out a suitable replacement?
I realize these speakers aren't anything to rave about, but I'd like it fixed nonetheless.
These speakers have 4 tweeters each
, and this is the only one that's torn. The tear is around the circumference of the cone, just under 1/4th of the way around the circumference circle, measuring in at about 1.5 to 2 inches long. Thoughts on what caused this? The speaker has been laying face-up in my living room for the past week or two, so I'm thinking maybe something dropped on it. Distortion/overpowering the tweeter wouldn't cause a tear like this, would it?
Thanks for your help!
