Crites CS 1.5T build

OK, since my Baby LaScala build didn't give immediate satisfaction, I decided to build a simple Crites CS 1.5T while I'm home. The Baby LaScala is not over, just put on hold for a while. Meantime, I ordered my kit from Crites yesterday and will be in tomorrow, crazy good service! Yesterday, I picked up a sheet of overpriced walnut plywood and some hardwood for trim and started building this AM. I loved a CS 1.5 build thread that Bugetnirvana shared and decided to copy that build. Anyway, here is the start of the project.

Measure 4 times and cut once. I used stops for repeatability. Didn't have enough walnut ply to do sides, tops , front and back, so I used MDF for back. Waiting on glue to dry :boring:

I got the backs and fronts framed out with walnut trim. Tomorrow, I'll assemble boxes and cabinet bracing. I asked Crites if they recommend dampening/insulation in the box, they say it doesn't really make a difference, any thoughts on that???

Ready to assemble boxes. Next time, I'll take Crites advise and order their motor board. Most of my time spent so far was making templets and jigs to flush mount the speakers. The walnut plywood I'm using has more voids than I thought it should, especially for the price. So, I routed out (extra deep) the woofer seats and filled with epoxy, thought it would fill any voids and give much better holding power for screws. Also decided to add some internal bracing even though Crites said it doesn't need any.

Finally got these to the final clamps. Hoping to sand and first coat of finish tomorrow. Still debating on internal dampening.

Final sanding and first finish coat. Using natural finish Danish oil with a wax finish after it cures.
