Croatian high end turntable

Aye, my S.A.M Aldebaran is my end game table also. Absolutely fantastic performance. Especially with Fidelity Research arms on it :)

Looks like they have a new turntable called the Renegade:

This is listed on that other audio site, but no mention of it on SAM's site or Ebay. Pricing is $100 less than the Reference turntable. It looks like a cosmetic exercise to address the criticisms of their other models. Personally, I like the looks, but I find it to look more generically like many of today's modern tables (I know, that was probably the point). It is quite a bit lighter vs. the Reference table.

I bit too much bling bling on that Renegade for my tastes, but other than that it does look better than their other tables IMO. Faux marble or whatever is never a good idea...

Nice copy of the VPI Prime Signature Plinth design....

Uhmmm, apart for sharing a bit similar countours on the side (and I'm pretty sure the Prime Signature wasn't the first table to do this, though I migth be wrong...) the tables are nothing alike.

Oh and yeah, both also have 3 layers. Did I miss something and VPI pulled an ADIDAS on 3 layers? :D

Well, after a year of eying these SAM turntables, I pulled the trigger and ordered the Reference model today. I spent the last week going back and forth between one of the SAM tables and the GT2000, rereading everything I had previously pored over. Then once I decided on SAM, I spent more time debating which model. Finally, I gave up and just decided to go big and order the Reference. I hope the table lives up to the hype:)

Excellent choice! I had my Reference exactly a year now and as I said a month after I got it, I couldn’t be happier specially now that I got the Lyra Delos cart, oh man.

I just checked out the Lyra Delos, ouch! Very nice, but looks to be a little out of my budget for now at least.

So, my Reference is on the way, but I still need to pick a cartridge to start with. For now, my budget is $1K or less (preferably less). From other tables, I have an Ortofon Blue and a Clear Audio Virtuoso Wood that I could try. I also asked SAM this question, and they suggested a few budget MC cartridges: Denon 103, Benz Micro Silver/Gold. Above $1K, Ivan suggested that there are too many options to list, but mentioned Lyra and Benz Micro LP.

So, what do you guys think? I kind of emptied the kitty in buying the table, so buying a really high end cartridge isn't in the cards at the moment. The Denon 103 (and others in the range 110, 160, 301) all are comfortably in my budget as are the suggested Benz Micros. Any suggestions specific to the SAM Callista or to similar tone arms would be greatly appreciated!

Any of those cart you mentioned are good as long as they are the MC cart. The key is setting up the Calista Tonearm correctly and aligning the cartridge is the key. It took me like 5 hours to set my Calista and and my cart.when is the ETA of your tabl?

Thanks. According to the tracking info, the estimated delivery date is July 30. I don't know how accurate that is for items shipped from Croatia:)
