Cubs win, Cubs win, Cubs win!

I hope they win it for Santo. It's just a shame he's not in the Hall of Fame.

The best elligible third baseman not in the Hall of Fame.Im not a cubs fan,but it seems Cubs always get short shrift for the Hall.Where is Santo?Where is Andre Dawson?

As many people in Chicago are glad as sad. The Cubs won't win until their sad-sack fans get bitter and stay away from the park. When you love losers they lose.

Illinois beat Wisconsin, that's the big deal in Illinois sports today; that wasn't expected whereas the Cub's folding was.

Lou made a lot of big changes in the lineup through out the season trying to find more consistent performance. They had a much better second half of the season.

But they are still bad at small ball - advance the man on base, punch a hit to the opposite field to score a run, foul off a lot of pitches to get the big gun pitchers to increase their pitch count, smart base running, etc.

The problem is fixable and I think you will see Lou make more changes to address that problem going into next year.

It was fun in September - many exciting games and Wrigley was rocking.

Cheers, Snade

It really won't matter who comes out of the Senior circuit...any of the teams coming from the Amercian League will put them down pretty easily. Too much pitching and hitting left in Boston and Cleveland for the National League team to match up against.

Any kind of comment about past hexes or whatever is obviously silly, given that the team is basically brand new every 2-3 years.

The only thing that makes me fell a little better about this year's outcome is knowing that if the Cubs hadn't been in the central division, they wouldn't have had a prayer of even making it into the playoffs at all. If they hadn't won the central, they wouldn't have had a chance of even sniffing at the wildcard slot.

Snade's comments on small ball are true. You've got to execute at each opportunity. It's like the short game in golf. Can't rely on hitting it 300 yards to win, you've got to be able to chip and putt.

Another thing that gives me a small amount of hope is the condition of their farm system. For the first time in a long time they've got a few kids that can play. Soto looks like he may be a fine catcher. Even though Theriot kind of ran out of gas at the end of the season, I think he'll be their shortstop for
awhile. Murton over Floyd IMO, and Marmol looks like a closer.
