Ok, this topic has probably been hashed over about a zillion times, but after searching the history, I am not finding answers to my questions..
Here are my goals:
1. High quality recording from Analog source (Tape, Vinyl) on a PC to a FLAC.
2. High Quality playback of the FLAC files on PC to my system.
3. It would be a bonus, if the ADC/DAC used a USB or Firewire interface to a computer so I could use a notebook or desktop.
4. It would also be a potential bonus if the unit had a HQ phono preamp in it.
I need a DAC/ADC hardware and recording software (I have Replay Music that should work)
The Creative Labs Sound Blaster 70SB124000001 Sound Blaster X-Fi HD does all of this, but have no idea how the sound is.
The reviews of the Asus Xonar D2/STX/ST cards sound great, but they're internal with no Phono input. May be worth doing if the sound is worthy..
The Fubar I/Omay or may not be great..???
I can give up the phono input for better sound...
Are there other/better solutions???
Surely, some of you have been down this road. I run Windows XP or 7, depending on system.
I'd really appreciate your suggestions!
