I try to do deep listening at least once a week where I even turn out the lights so that nothing distracts
me from concentrating on the music where I try to pinpoint the exact placements of each instrument.

I don't get to do this often enough in my book.

too bad recording engs don't give a crap about SQ else they wouldn't just put a bunch of compressed crap on CDs. Oh, but I forgot , it's for the mass market.

And they wonder why the CD doesn't sell as well... :thumbsdn:

More likely that's the Mastering Engineer, not the Recording Engineer. Sometimes it's pressure from the label, sometimes it's pressure from the artist, sometimes it's the Mastering Engineer wanting the results to be as "loud" as what's out on the market. Sometimes it just sucks.
