I am new to this forum and I hope to get some help with the subject receiver. I recently dug out my turntable that had not been used in this millennium. The turntable is functioning as expected. The issue: With the receiver in PHONO mode, I am able to hear the right channel of the TUNER, faintly. I only hear it between LP tracks, or when not playing record. Presently, my workaround is to set the TUNER to a non-broadcast frequency.

Has anyone else experienced such an issue? A solution or recommendation would be greatly appreciated. One additional note. I discovered the problem when using headphones.

Yea, some amps use the same inputs for all stages. Maybe try cleaning your pots/ controls.

Or try a cheap external Phono stage ran through your Aux or Line inputs. But they also may run through the same board.

It's not uncommon at all on some gear.

Good luck, and hopefully someone can shed some light on your particular receiver.

Welcome to AudioKarma!! :)

Kind Regards,
John

Thank you for your reply and the recommendation John. I will try your suggestion. Luckily I have a service manual I found online. It looks like I will need it.
Also John, thank you for the welcome.

Any time!

I'd try doing a full cleaning with some Deox-it before you purchase a phono preamp. The Pyle brand has them for as low as $15. Others are a little more, and probably worth the extra few bucks. Rolls is a good brand. See link below.

John, you were right on the money. I cleaned the controls and had success. I was pleasantly surprised. I am usually an optimist, but in this case I was pesamistic. I am glad I followed you suggestion.

This reply is nearly two months after your response. I had to plan time to tear down the receiver. Total time for tear down, cleaning and reassembly was over a two day period. I completed it about two weeks ago. Sorry for the long time laps. I really appreciate you and this forum.

Thank again John

Nice! Glad it worked. I had a similar issue with a Pioneer QX-9000 that i was working on a while back.

Good job!

John & "illusndweller",

I hope you both receive this post. This is a friendly forum, especially with two gentlemen like yourselves. I am amased by the high frequency of posts. This is a busy place. I have not found every thing on Audiokarma yet. Hopefully I will find a glossary of terms. For example, I don't know what a Super Member is or a Subscriber. I will learn as browse the site.

The best to both of you,

Dennis

Upper right hand of the site is a search box, that can be a huge help!

A subscriber is a user who donates 25 bucks to support the site. You get special access when subscribed. Barter Town is one main perk.

As far as super member, the more activity you have on the site your status changes. For example your icon is showing new member. :) after a good while of use it will change to well known member... super member. Ext. :)

We love having new folks on the site, audio is more than a hobby for some of us, it's our passion. And to be able to help/talk to other audio/music lovers it's a great tool for us.

Kind Regards,
John

That $25 subscription fee mentioned by jobrewer1983 is good for a year from the date you decide to subscribe, and pay. It opens up a few more forums you don't see now, including Barter Town where subscriber's can buy and sell used audio, without any site fees, and is a good source for vintage or used audio. Not trying to persuade you, just clarifying.

Welcome to the site, Senior.
