Deoxit D5 drying time

I'm going to use Deoxit D5 for the first time on two small potentiometers (the pitch controls in my turntable). After spraying the interior of the pots, the shafts must be rotated back and forth a couple of dozen times or more to clean off the carbon/dirt from the copper disk inside...fine. However, I've read that the Deoxit D5 solvent dries VERY quickly (a couple of minutes), leaving the mineral oil residue intact for lubrication. If the stuff dries that quickly, I won't really have time to rotate two pots twenty to thirty times before the stuff dries. So in reality, is the first pot cleaning (badly needed, BTW) enough? Should I (or can I) repeat the spraying process a second time immediately? Thanks for any input!

Spray a bit on something to see how long it takes to dry. My experience is that it takes much longer. It will wash/dissolve the fader lube out of the pot. The problem is the pressure in the can is far too high and too much is dispensed at once. Pots need a little unpressurized needle dispenser. A drop is all it needs.

I use d5 and it does not dry quickly. You can time it yourself. Spray a short bursts of d5 in the cap of the product and see it will not evaporate quickly.
 
D5 isn't conductive AFAIK. I've used it quite a bit over the years. One thing to consider is it will wash away all the lube on the shaft bearing and it will lose it's nice silky smooth feeling. I have found that Deoxit D100 works quite well and doesn't contain solvent, only the deoxidizer. Also, it isn't recommended to use D5 on a carbon pot. Check out Caig's site, it is covered there.
